Changi Prison Museum

Changi, Singapore: The Changi detention center was built in the 1930’s and remains still in operation as home to some of the countries most violent criminals. During World War II, the facility was run by the Japanese and was used as a POW camp for Allied prisoners. A museum devoted to POW life was established in 1988. Exhibits show prisoner letters and documents, with special attention being devoted to paintings and murals from prison artists. A chapel stands aside the museum, dedicated to the memory of those who died in the prison.
