Nagasaki, Japan: On August 9th, 1945, several days after the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima, the United States exploded a second atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Nagasaki. Almost 70,000 people died instantaneously, with 10,000 more perishing from radiation poisoning after the bombing. Today, the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum both memorializes the victims and educates a wider public on the events surrounding the bombing, with a special focus on nuclear warfare more generally. The museum features guided tours of important buildings, several memorials, photographs and oral histories surrounding the event, and presents material remnants from the heat blast of the bomb.
I visited the site once when I was a junior high school student. I still remember I was shocked by watching vivid displays and most of my friends also lost thier words. In daily life, we always forget about the history but this memory have played an important role to remind me what tragedies happened during the WWⅡnot only Japan but also many other contries.
