Wannsee, Germany: On January 20th, 1942, top Nazi officials met at a villa on Wannsee Lake, outside of the German city of Berlin. The goal of the meeting was to introduce plans for the final solution, or the Nazi project of genocide, which would result in the mass murder of millions of European Jews. The villa in which the meeting took place was transformed into a Holocaust museum, with the goal of educating the public about the historical events that took place there.
